White-necked Jacobin, Hummingbirds of Costa Rica.    Click to View in Photo Gallery

We found 24 species of hummingbirds during our travels in Costa Rica. I was able to photograph 17 of these species. The bird checklist for whole country lists 50 species of hummingbirds. All the eco-lodges we stayed at had numerous feeders set out which made photographing these winged jewels no too difficult. Hummingbirds are also not shy at all and will often dart within inches of you if you sit still.
